Creamy Matcha & Moringa Latte

Happy Sunday all! This is the third edition of my short weekend post series.

Today I’m sharing a super simple recipe for a delicious, creamy, velvety matcha latte packed with superfood goodness.

This warming drink is perfect on a cold winter day. I love enjoying it on a slow Sunday afternoon or in the morning in lieu of coffee. It has boosting properties that will energize you and keep you alert and focused for hours.

Because matcha and moringa are so similar – they actually look the same – they pair very well together. I was introduced to moringa a few months ago and it has quickly become my favorite green powder. Unlike spirulina or chlorella powder, which have a strong taste that can be difficult to get used to, moringa has a subtle and sweet taste. Moringa is a tree, native to India. The leaf is used to make the powder, which can be found at most health food stores. It’s a true superfood as it contains huge amounts of antioxidants, phytonutrients, minerals, vitamins and amino acids. It’s particularly high in vitamin C, vitamin A, calcium, potassium and protein. It’s an overall incredible natural supplement! I love adding it to smoothies, crepes, breakfast bowls and desserts for a nutrient boost and a vibrant green color. Combine it with the amazing disease-fighting properties of matcha tea and the benefits of health-promoting fats and you’ve got yourself a true nutrition powerhouse of a drink.

Creamy Matcha & Moringa Latte // The Green Life

Note: I like using cashew milk for this recipe as it has a naturally smooth and creamy consistency, but you could use any other plant-based milk. Coconut, macadamia or almond milk would be great options too.


Creamy Matcha & Moringa Latte

Servings 1


  • 1 cup unsweetened plant-based milk I used homemade cashew milk
  • 1 tsp matcha powder
  • 1 tsp moringa powder
  • 1 tsp coconut oil
  • 1/4 tsp unpasteurized honey - or more to taste (optional)


  1. Combine the milk, matcha and moringa powder in a small saucepan. Bring to a low simmer over medium heat, whisking a few times.
  2. Once the milk has thickened a little and is warm, gently transfer to a blender. Add the coconut oil and honey and blend until smooth and creamy. Pour into a mug and serve immediately.
